ARLINGTON PARISH
COUNCIL
Policy on Traffic Calming
The Parish Council recognises that traffic driving at speeds that are inappropriate for road conditions and in contravention of speed limits creates the threat of fatal or serious injury.
The Parish Council recognises that the fear of fatal or serious injury occurring is a major concern of Parishioners.
The Parish Council will endeavour to:
1. Get the public to obey the existing speed restrictions and drive appropriately for the road conditions.
2. Pursue the relevant authorities to have speed limits lowered in the future and implement other measures to reduce speeds.
The Statutory Authority responsible for setting speed limits or installing traffic calming (in the Parish) is East Sussex County Council, on behalf of Central Government. More information is available from www.eastsussex.gov.uk search for road safety & speeding.
The Police are responsible for endeavouring to enforce compliance with Road Traffic Regulations.
