Minutes of a meeting of Arlington Parish Council held in Upper Dicker Village Hall at 7.00 pm on Thursday 20th August  2009. (Paragraphs 09.90 – 09.93)

PRESENT: Councillors Mike Garner (Chairman), Ed Dickie, Paula Ertl, Doreen Goodchild, Carolyn McCutchan, Helen Proctor and Mark Yeoman.

09.90 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE.  District Cllr Blake, District Cllr White and County Cllr Bennett.

09.91 DECLARATION OF INTEREST.  Cllr Dickie declared a prejudicial interest in Item 09.93, regarding planning application WD/2009/1698/F affecting the property of an employer.

09.92 PUBLIC ADJOURNMENT. Not required.

09.93 PLANNING

The following new planning applications were considered:

WD/2009/1591/F. Farmland adjoining High Barn Road, Upper Dicker. Erection of new farm building to provide livestock housing and fodder storage. Councillors acknowledged the need for the new building but had concerns about its proposed positioning, in an open area of historic countryside where it would be clearly visible from a right of way. In this particular instance the facility could be more sympathetically situated near the road, where it would be screened by a good hedgerow.  It was resolved by a majority of four votes to three that APC should OBJECT to the application its present form.

WD/2009/1603/F. Knockhatch Adventure Park, Hempstead Lane, Hailsham, BN27 3GD. New Wardens accommodation. It was noted that the Park already had accommodation on site for the ski lodge manager. Therefore councillors questioned the need for an additional warden to live on site for night security, especially in the chosen location near the ski facility. It was resolved that APC should OBJECT to the application.

WD/2009.1698/F. Charleston Buildings, St Bede’s School, Upper Dicker BN27 3QH. Retention of two school buildings and change of use to classrooms. The occupants of neighbouring properties were content with this scheme. It was resolved that APC should SUPPORT the application.

The meeting closed at 8.00 pm.

Katrina Larkin, Parish Clerk, 21st August 2009
