PARK  MEAD  SCHOOL

For the eighth year running, Park Mead has won the swimming cup in the inter-schools competition.

Summer Events:Four Hailsham town schools and three rural schools compete in this event every year.  Undoubtedly

the proximity of St Bede’s swimming pool gives Park Mead a definite advantage.  No pupil leaves  Park Mead without being able to swim.

In spite of the rain on Saturday 30th June, Park Mead’s Summer Fayre raised over a Ā£1,000

towards its Garden Project.  It was not only the wettest, but, thanks to the use of the School Hall, also a most successful money-raising event.

Organic Fruit and Vegetables in Upper Dicker

A year-round supply of fresh, organic fruit and vegetables can

be yours if you rent an allotment at Upper Dicker.  Strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrants have recently been harvested.  Broad beans produced a bumper crop.  Spinach and courgettes are growing exceptionally well following the heavy rain and warmer weather. Some hard work is involved as the soil needs digging and manuring in Autumn and weeding.in the summer months.  Some initial outlay on ground cover fabric and netting to protect crops is beneficial.

Fresh air and exercise in a quiet rural setting and the chance to make new gardening friends are other advantages of renting a plot!

For further details, please contact the Parish clerk, Lin Baxter on 01323-645653 after August 1st
