PARK MEAD SCHOOL

The walking bus has got off to a fantastic start on a Friday morning. All the children are thoroughly enjoying the experience (even in the rain) and it is hoped that, if the scheme continues to be popular, it may run on additional mornings. It has had a positive impact on reducing the congestion during school drop-off on Fridays! The whole school took part in a 5 mile round-trip sponsored walk to Arlington Reservoir for a picnic raising funds for Macmillan and the school garden project. Class 3 were recently joined by the Sussex College of Egyptology learning about Ancient Egypt and were delighted to watch  a classmate being mummified!

Spend a few minutes before you set

out and check your vehicle to ensure it's roadworthy. Make sure your tyres are safe with the correct pressure and

tread. Ensure you have enough windscreen wash and that your lights and indicators work correctly.

It's also advisable that you have good roadside recovery and a way of making contact with someone to let them know you are safe in the event of a breakdown.

The June meeting was well attended by some twenty members of the public. District Cllr. David White was also present and brought the meeting up to date regarding the changes in relation to delegated powers authorizing Planning officers to decide planning applications. A number of residents voiced complaints regarding the current application to construct sports fields at St Bede’s, highlighting the need to preserve the local landscape and not allow developments to damage the setting and environment of  village life. Other business including the financial returns for 2006/2007 and  confirming the appointment of the new clerk.  Minutes of recent meetings can be viewed at www.arlington-parish-council.org.uk
