ARLINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

May 2007

THANK-YOU TO ROBIN - RETIRING PARISH CHAIRMAN

I first met Robin in 1999 when he responded to my letter to the local paper regarding the uncertain future of the allotments.

He subsequently rented an allotment for his family and gave me considerable support in raising the profile of the allotments, and assisted with a project to restore them.  As a result of this, an environmental award was won.

Robin’s willingness to become actively involved

in the local community led to my nominating

him for membership of the Parish Council.  I’m glad I did.  He has been a real asset.

Robin has given a great deal of time and effort and shown a lot of commitment to the Parish Council over the past 8 years.  As Chairman of the Parish Council for several years he has guided us through some challenging times with difficult decisions to make. Thank-you  Robin from all of us.  We wish you and your family every success in your new home. Helen Proctor

PARK MEAD SCHOOL

Park Mead School infants have begun their swimming lessons and some of the juniors are getting in some extra swimming practice ready for the Hailsham gala. The junior classes were joined by two American trainee teachers for the last eight weeks and Class 3 have been studying the Egyptians whilst Native Americans have been the focus for Class 4. The Infants really enjoyed their topic work on toys, past and present, and many bought in some antique items to show. The school came second in a tennis festival and the whole school found a drama production of ‘Henry’s Wobbly Tooth’ very engaging, but also very informative: dental hygiene has never been so much fun!
