HENRY McCUTCHAN RETIRES FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL

The Mc Cutchans have been represented on the Arlington Parish Council for over seventy years.  Stanley McCutchan became a Parish councillor in the 1930s.  He died in the early seventies at which time his older son John took over.  When John retired in the nineties, his brother Henry took over.

Henry, having recently discovered the joys of 'grandfather' status, has now also retired.  Henry has been a great asset to the Parish Council over the past fifteen years or so.  The wealth of instantly available, encyclopaedic local knowledge for which he is justifiably renowned renowned, will be sorely missed.

However, all is not lost.  The Arlington Parish is delighted to welcome Henry's sister-in-law, Carolyn Mc Cutchan who has volunteered to fill the vacant post.  We look forward to many more years of Mc Cutchan presence on the Council.

Thank you Henry for the invaluable work you did for the Parish with your unfailing good humour and common sense.  We wish you a very happy and long retirement.

PARK MEAD SCHOOL

Park Mead School took part in the ‘Get Fit Kids’ fund-raising campaign last month and were visited by international gymnast Joanne Beattie. A well attended Easter Fair raised £800 for the school and gave the children chance to take part in lots of Easter-themed activities. Work to make the pedestrian entrance into the front playground safer will take place during the summer holidays. The school will shortly be training volunteers to ‘drive’ a walking bus to school initially for one morning a week. This initiative will help retain Park Mead’s Healthy Schools status.
